Djokovic Chases Title No. 103 at the Swiss Indoors After His Seventh China Open Crown
Djokovic is still collecting trophies, and Basel is next. Here is where his late-season run stands.

Novak Djokovic is not slowing down. The Serbian legend accepted a wild card for the Swiss Indoors in Basel, where he will chase the 103rd title of his career.
A Seventh China Open Crown
Djokovic arrives in Switzerland in winning form. Earlier this month he claimed the China Open in Beijing for a seventh time, ending a trophy drought when Alex de Minaur retired in the final. That win was the 102nd title of his career.
Only a handful of players in the Open Era have won more than 100 titles, and Djokovic keeps adding to his total well into the later stages of his career.
Medvedev's Default
That China Open run included one of the strangest moments of the season. Daniil Medvedev was defaulted in his match against Djokovic after hitting a fan in the head with a ball. Medvedev said he was "terribly sorry" about the incident.
Under tennis rules, hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly, even by accident, can lead to an immediate default. It is the same rule that famously removed Djokovic himself from the 2020 US Open. If you are new to how matches and penalties work, our guide to tennis scoring is a good place to start.
A Wide-Open Late Season
The men's tour has been full of surprises this fall:
- Alejandro Davidovich Fokina won the Shanghai Masters, the biggest title of his career, beating 20-year-old Rafael Jodar in the final.
- Jodar became the youngest semifinalist in Shanghai history.
- Medvedev beat longtime rival Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach the Shanghai quarterfinals.
