Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking

Last updated October 23, 2026

Trust is everything in sports media. This page explains how we report, how we check facts and how we fix mistakes.

Our Standards

  • Accuracy first. We verify rules, records and statistics against official sources such as league rulebooks, governing bodies and official statistics providers.
  • Clear sourcing. When we report news first published by another outlet, we credit and link to it.
  • Original work. We do not copy or republish other publications' articles. All of our content is written by our team.
  • Separation of news and opinion. Analysis and opinion pieces are clearly framed as such.

Fact-Checking

Before publishing, an editor reviews each article for factual accuracy, clarity and fairness. Explainer articles are reviewed again when rules change, and the "Updated" date at the top of an article shows when it was last revised.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and transparently. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date of the change. To request a correction, email editor@forthefans.info.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any league, team or governing body. Advertisers and partners have no influence over our editorial coverage.

Use of AI

Any tools used in our workflow are supervised by human editors, who are responsible for every published word.
